I’ve sown now where is my blessing?
I hope that what I’m about to say will give you a better understanding of what it means to sow. I had to learn a hard lesson because I was really getting frustrated because I wasn’t seeing the harvest that I believed I deserved. Honestly, for those of you that have been following me for a while you know that I’m a giver. Be it money, information, advice etc… I give it freely! Even in that I felt like I wasn’t getting what I sowed, but after my lesson I realized I was getting EXACTLY what I was sowing. As a business coach I help people make their vision of becoming an entrepreneur a reality. I have to admit that I started to get frustrated when calls came in from happy clients saying “OMG Ms.Mason I did what you said and in less than 60 days I made $50k in my business.
Then I received a call from a friend who said “I took what you told me about doing business online and I made $24k in 3 weeks”. Now please understand these aren’t exaggerated numbers at all and this is only to name a few. I will say when it comes making money online, I know the system of doing that. Well I was very happy for them but I had a few questions. What I didn’t understand was, if they’re making that much off of the information and marketing plans I give them, why is it that I’m not making at least $50-$150k a month? I want to open up a unique transitional facility for women and it takes a lot of money to do that. I want to empower more men an women around the world, but it takes money. I want to start a molestation victims hotline but it takes resources to do that. I pray, I fast, I have faith, I do the work, so what was I doing wrong?
I was explaining my dilemma to a Pastor friend of mine and he asked “April who are you sowing into? And do they yield the results that you want?”. I had to say “hmmm good question” and one that I didn’t have a good answer for. At that moment I realized that my clients sowed into me because they wanted the results that I get and they were getting exactly that!! I couldn’t be upset at that because they believed that I was good ground. From that day on I totally changed where I sowed and how I sowed. I stopped sowing into the poor and changed it to giving to the poor. When you sow into bad ground it doesn’t mean you are not getting a harvest, you’re just going to get the results of the ground you sowed into be it bad or good!
I had another pastor friend that was having problems with his church and needed help keeping the building. He didn’t have a lot of members, but he did have a vision out of this world. Well, he went to several of his pastor friends and none of them would sow into him to help him out because they didn’t want to reap his results! I even watched a WELL known pastor come over to the church and only GIVE $100 when he knew the need. However he went over to another church and SOWED a $1mil! He did this because he wanted to reap the harvest of a mega church and as of today he has several locations….and this was only a few years ago.
I said all this to say,who you are connected to and sow into is very crucial in your reaping a harvest process. You don’t have time to continue to sow into ground where you aren’t reaping a harvest simply out of obligation! Yes I said it “sowing out of obligation“. Many of us are guilty of that because were are told we are robbing God or cursed with a curse if we don’t sow. I encourage you to continue to sow, just REDIRECT your seed and sow into those that are where you want to be!

Thanks for this post, April! This makes a lot of sense and a lot of people needs to see this!
April, I really enjoyed this post. My God, if I haven’t had this thought but you did an AMAZING job at putting it into words. In the past I said, that if you plant tomato seeds you cant get oranges. I meant that we sow a little expecting a lot. No… We have to sow according to the size of our vision, our purpose, our destiny.
But you went to another level… Sowing into a whole different ground. Of course! That makes all the sense! If we sow into poor ground we won’t yield enough fruit to feed our dream. And if our dream is helping the poor we can’t sow into the poor. We must sow into the rich ground so we can have plenty of harvest to come back and feed the poor. So we can come “fertilize” the poor soil.
GIrl, this post is AWESOME! Do what you do! Results come from consistency and that’s what you’re doing! Being consistent. ((hugs))
Linda, I had to learn this lesson and when i did, boy did it change my life! Keep pushing lady it will all be worth it!
Sister April,
I read your post and had to comment. Based on what I see here on your website you are a very smart and intelligent woman. The false doctrine of ‘sowing and reaping’ that you seem to be alluding to is unbiblical and is akin to ‘witchcraft’. Try to find (if you can) anywhere in the Bible where this idea of ‘good ground’ is taught, or practiced as it relates to giving. There is one scripture that talks about sowing and reapinng as it relates to money that is found in 2 Cor 9:6.
” Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”
Notice that there is a connection between sowing and reaping, but it is your heart that is the deciding factor not the ‘ground’. We should give what ‘we have decided in our heart to give”. Not reluctantly (hoping that we will get a return) and not under compulsion (motivated by some external pressure or source) This scripture is the Biblical example for us to follow. Keep in mind that the terms ‘sparingly and generously are relative to the individual. A person who only has $10 who gives it all has given more generously than another person who had $100 and gave $10. Think of the comments of Jesus and the widow’s mite.
If you continue to read the next few verses in contex God does promise to bless those who give in this manner both in their needs being met and in their spiritual growth. And finally this type of giving honors and brings glory to God.
God bless you, keep up the good work you are doing. Your ministry is much needed in the body of Christ.
